Why most operational problems are really clarity problems
Missed deadlines and firefighting are usually symptoms. The cause is almost always unclear ownership.
Most founders describe their problem as execution: things slip, quality varies, and everything needs the founder in the room.
When we map the actual workflow, the pattern is nearly always the same — two people believe someone else owns a step, and nobody owns the outcome. Once ownership, a simple standard and a weekly review rhythm are in place, execution improves without adding headcount.
Start with three questions for every recurring process: who owns it, what does good look like, and how do we know it happened? If you cannot answer all three in one sentence each, that is the work.
